Computer Giant IBM and AMUL

Many may think what is up for a computer giant with a dairy company like AMUL?
IBM is handling the collection and marketing aspects of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation(GCMMF), the owners of popular brand AMUL. They are handling 10 million litres of milk from 2.8 millions of farmers, its products reach 600,000 retail outlets through 3500 odd distributors. All these things are managed by IBM. By IBM standards, it is nothing. But they want to begin with small and grow big. They feel that they can duplicate this with other dairies in India. They are also making web as a source of information for farmers and many other innovations are to follow.
